Drainage Strip
for EIFS
Drainage Strip Keeps EIFS Dry
Synthetic stucco, also known as EIFS or Rigid Boardstock Insulation applications, has been providing continuous insulation since the 1970s. An important lesson learned is that drainage is required behind the rigid foam board to prevent entrapped moisture problems. Drained EIFS can be used in nearly every climate. Drainage is created in two ways:
- Adhesive applied in vertical strips creates a drainage gap in the field of the wall
- An EIFS drainage strip at terminations protects this air gap from being sealed off
A 1/8″ gap created by the drainage strip keeps Rigid Boardstock Insulation applications and other EIFS assemblies dry.

Corrugated Lath Strip™
EIFS Drainage Strip
Corrugated Lath Strip™ ensures a 1/8″ gap for drainage in water-managed EIFS walls. Corrugated Lath Strip™ prevents the accidentally sealing off the drainage gap, ensuring that your high-performance walls stay dry and healthy. Available in black and translucent white.
