MTI Sure Cavity™ (SC 5016, SC 5032, SCMM 2516, SCMM 2532) is a 0.024" (0.6 mm) thick high impact polystyrene strip formed with corrugations and a spunbond polypropylene fabric on one side with a 4" (102 mm) skirt on one edge.

Sure Cavity™ separates masonry veneers from moisture resistant system on structural back-up walls while creating a drainage system that allows moisture to travel down to weeps and out of walls.

Moisture Diverter™

MTI Moisture Diverter (DS 2852) is a 28 Ga. 2 5/8" galvanized metal strip bent to a 65 degree V-shapped open angle. The Front Leg is 5/8", the Back Leg is 1 7/8", and the overall length is 4 feet.

MTI Moisture Diverter™ diverts moisture that drains down the interior of a wall system above a window/door detail. Moisture Diverter™ diverts this moisture to one, or both, sides of these openings away from these moisture-sensitive details.

Sure Cavity™ Product Dimensions

  • Sure Cavity™ SC 5016 is 15 3/4" high, 3/16" thick, in 50' long rolls, covering 66 sq. ft.
  • Sure Cavity™ SC 5032 is 31 1/2" high, 3/16" thick, in 50' long rolls, covering 132 sq. ft.
  • Sure Cavity™ SCMM 2516 is 15 3/4" high, 10mm thick, 25' long rolls, covering 33 sq. ft.
  • Sure Cavity™ SCMM 2532 is 31 1/2" high, 10mm thick, 25' long rolls, covering 66 sq. ft

Installation

  • Position Sure Cavity™ with the spunbond fabric facing to weather with 4" fabric skirt wrapped back under bottom on first course.
  • Spunbond fabric 4" skirt should overlap the top of the lower course of Sure Cavity™.
  • Construction paper, Sure Cavity™ and metal lath to extend down over top of foundation wall a minimum of 2".

Moisture Diverter™

Works because

  1. It stops moisture and diverts it to either side and away from moisture-sensitive wall details.
  2. It answers a critical need above wall openings

Moisture Diverter™ Product Dimensions

  • Moisture Diverter™ DS 2858 is a 28 Ga. 2 1/2" wide galvanized metal strip
  • It is V-shaped 65 degree open angle channel
  • It has a Front Leg of 5/8", a Back Leg of 1 7/8", and is 4' long

Installation

  • Position Moisture Diverter™ above wall openings (window, door, etc.) immediately above, but not in contact with, mounting flanges or flashing systems.
  • Make Moisture Diverter™ watertight against moisture resistant coatings on masonry or poured concrete walls.
  • Install flashing and overlap construction paper shingle-fashion on framed wall.
  • Install Moisture Diverter™ with ¼ inch to 1” slope-to-drain.
  • Moisture Diverter™ must extend a minimum of 4” past window mounting flange or window trim boards on both sides of window.
