New! MTI Launches Another AIA Approved Rainscreen HSW/SD Course
MTI recently recieved approval for their new AIA HSW/SD class #MTI609 "Moisture Management from the Ground Up! Sustainability Strategies for the Rainscreen Building Envelope."
The evidence supporting moisture intrusion into the rainscreen building envelope as a major contributor to Sustainability, HSW and Energy Efficiency problems is overwhelming. This course focuses on three areas of the building envelope that have unique moisture intrusion issues: the foundation, window and door rough openings and parapet walls. The course not only looks at how moisture gets into these moisture-prone areas of the rainscreen building envelope, it also presents suggestions on how to remedy the problems with effective rainscreen moisture management systems. This course was designed to help you meet the AIA’s HSW and Sustainability requirements.
To register for this class or for any other MTI AIA approved class, visit our Education section. If you don't already have a free MTI account, you can create one by clicking the "Register" link at the top of the page.

New 2/1/12 The Stucco Book: The Basics is a Must Read! - Adam, MTI's Lead Graphic Artist, and his graphic arts team have just finished updates to our CAD and PDF details for all of our products. To access these images, visit our HyperSpecs section. A few months ago I was given the privilege of reading a draft of Herb Nordmeyer's The Stucco Book - The Basics. Over the years I have referred many MTI customers to Herb for advice with the figurative message, "He wrote the book on stucco." Now he actually has! If you are a mason, architect, contractor, or in any way connected to building projects that involve stucco, you need to own and read this book! Find it on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.
New 2/12/12 December Construction Canada Magazine Article:The January issue of Masonry Magazine contains an article by MTI's CEO, John Koester. The article stresses the fact that there is no single magic bullet for solving the moisture intrusion into the rainscreen building envelope problem. It takes a systemic/holistic approach involving multiple products correctly detailed and applied, and a team of architects, specifiers, builders and tradespeople working in concert. Access the article.
MTI Adds New AEC Community Feature
MTI has been working with CSPECS since last fall to develop a simple, yet comprehensive process for specifying our rainscreen drainage products. We just finished adding the app to our website. The link to the SpecSuite can be found on the Home page of www.MTIdry.com.
With the SpecSuite you can, in just a few steps, get all the documents needed to understand, specify, and create a submittal for MTI drainage products. You will also be able to easily share this information with all parties in the project. We are excited that we can offer this application to the AEC Community. If you would like to find out more about the SpecSuite, visit our AEC Tools page where you can read an overview with links to an online Flash tutorial and a SpecSuite download in PDF format. We think you will find this to be an amazingly powerful tool to research and specify MTI drainage products.
